Our everyday lives are being made easier thanks to the thousands of apps available to download. Just like WhatsApp, which lets you communicate with friends instantly from anywhere in the world; or Uber which has removed the stress of ordering/paying for a taxi. There’s an app for almost anything.
In this guide, we’ll be showing you some of the most useful apps for electric vehicle drivers. These are the apps that can make the life of an EV driver that much easier, especially when it comes to charging.
The essential app for EV drivers. Quick and painless to download from your mobile’s app store, PlugShare is a great way to find out where the nearest electric charging stations are in your vicinity. Shown clearly on a map, you’ll see the exact location, the type of plug, and model it’s applicable for. You’ll even see photos of the station so you know what to look out for when you’re making a move towards it.
Not only that, PlugShare has a useful ‘check-in’ feature. This is where other EV drivers post their experiences with that particular station and provide a score out of 10. This enables you to view previous drivers that have recently used the charging station. By creating a community, the app allows you to see how well the station has been working for other drivers, so you know whether to avoid it or not.
Another useful feature is that PlugShare permits you to navigate to the location. Simply click ‘navigate’ and it will then give you the option to use Apple maps or Google Maps. It’s fast, convenient, and super straightforward.
Wallbox is an excellent way to keep track of your battery status, as it provides a wide range of real-time information regarding your electric vehicle. With an easy-to-use, smooth interface - you’ll have all the details you need to make sure your vehicle’s battery is up to scratch. View charging logs, consumption, charging times, and costs straight from your mobile - wherever you are. On top of all that, you can set charging schedules to meet the demand of your busy lifestyle. Just pick a time that’s best for you, then let the Wallbox app do the rest.
Get your fixed price nowHave full control over your vehicle's charging. EV.energy constantly monitors the status of your vehicle, much like Wallbox. If the app sees that you’re low on battery, it will automatically start charging when you’re not there. This app works particularly well with a Rolec home charging points - you’re able to set a time you want your vehicle charged for, so you can get on with your day and return to a replenished car. EV.energy then tells you exactly how long it’ll be until your car is 100% charged; then you’ll get notified as soon as it is. If you’re interested, this app will also tell you how much CO2 and energy you’ve saved - which is always good to be reminded every now and then.
